Alaska forever my home

Scrolling threw my Face book feed i saw an article on the top
25 things you will miss about Alaska. for most people who come to Alaska
its either love at first sight or sheer an utter hatred. i am the one of the
lucky ones i was born an raised here i have seen the good and the ugly of AK
but like any good home..... you stay.
so after living here for almost 23 long years here is my personal list of
things i am gonna miss.
1. The mountains, the trails & hills
not everyone gets to wake up look out side there window and see a picture worthy view
every square inch of this state is covered with amazing views!! and i am gonna miss shooting
them! now here's a couple of my favorite mountains, trails, and hills photos I've taken!

2. The Sunrise & sunsets

Now ever body loves a sunrise & sunset but in Alaska its magical & breathtaking. everyday you
stop an stare, looking up you wonder to your self " how can i be so lucky to live in place that
has this much beauty"

3.The small towns that take you back in time

I grew up in Hope, Alaska a small gold mining town of less the 300 people.
about 100 miles from Anchorage and 15 miles down the Hope Road,it takes you back when
life was much simpler, & where the kids played in the river an on the mud flats. if you needed
to find somebody is wasn't at the mall, it was at the local cafe the Center of the Hope community.
every body knew everybody and we were all small town superstars no matter if we lived there for ever
or left an come back every now an then. the best feeling in the world is walking into the cafe an hearing
" Uh oh trouble just walked in" an having every body come say hi an give hugs! I'm never gonna be famous nor do i want to but knowing that in Hope no matter how long its been I'm still gonna me Small town famous.

4. The camping, fishing, hunting and everything outdoors

after growing up in Hope, and moving anchorage i enjoyed the city but it never quite felt like home.
the amazing thing about Alaska is being able to drive 30- 60 mins in any direction and you can get out into nature! weather its for hunting, fishing or just to camp for the night. there are so many amazing places in Alaska it takes a life time
to explore.

5. The endless supply of drive threw coffee shops!
Just about every other block in Alaska has a coffee shop on it. I've heard in the states there is some or none at all, Expect star bucks! When I was in Oregon they had their small drive threw chain. But that was it! I'm defiantly gonna have to find a cafe that supports local coffee brewers! AK is all about supporting local.

6. The summers
What's not to love about an Alaska summer! It's almost always daylight,
You can so anything you want at any time of day or night! Go for a midnight hike up flattop! Drive down to Kenai an do some fishing! Spend the day on big lake taking in the rays from the sun! Summers in Alaska are amazing.

7. The winters
Yes yes I knows it Alaska but the winters aren't even that bad!! Now you probably think well she's lived here all her life she's use to it! But truth is no ones gets use to -20 weather! Now time for good...  If you  live in Alaska then it's probably safe to say you love being outdoors no matter what season! Some of my favorite things to do in the winter is snowboard, snow machine, go to slush cup, fur ronday!

8.  The traffic or lack there of.
Most of if not all of Alaska has one road in one road out. So when 330 rolls around in anchorage it starts to get busy.  Comparing to other states and traffic jams, anchorage doesn't compare and that is something I am diff going to miss.

9. The Restaurants!!!
Anchorage is staring to grow soon much when it comes to the food!! There are so many local farm to table joints in town.  It's so exciting to see your town grow! And the best part is you can really taste the growth!! Some of my favorite places are : snow city cafe, speared road house, wheel good food (food truck), moose tooth pizzeria. If you have not checked out any of these places go NOW!

10. What I am going to miss most is my family.

I grew here and I've chosen to spend most of my adult life here, it will always be home! I have so many amazing memories of family that wouldn't be the same if we chose to make home some where else! Who I am today is a direct result of how and where I was raised!
