Food Porn...

Most people with a camera phone these take photos of what they eat & I am no different! I love food probably why I am fat but that's a topic for another day. Back to our subject, we call these people "foodies" I adspire to be a foodie but I am too broke all the time to eat out! So I've been making "food porn" at home! (Ha that came out way dirtier then I thought it would) here some photos of my delicious food I've made! 

Vday dinner; steak, shrimp, asparagus, & garlic mashed potates. 

Homemade chicken Alfredo with a Caesar salad. 

Chicken bacon ranch salad with homemade dressing. 

Roasted green beans with bacon. These were the best green beans I've had!! 

Steak, asparagus, potato hash & of course a beer! 

Because I can't help but share my loving creations, I am cursed with my mom telling me I need to go to culinary school an she doesn't shut up about it. So how about you guys share some of your best "food porn" doesn't matter if you made it at home or went to a reseturant! Just comment with the info. Don't forget my husband and I are still looking for your guys help when it comes to where to stop when we make out cross country drive.

McKinley

So I thought I should take some time to introduce my doggie. She's a huge part of my life & I'm  always snapping photos of her. 

I started working at the animal shelter in December 2010, I wanted every cute animal I saw, in February I was called up front to bring back a stray puppy & she was so tiny and skinny! I remember sitting her down so I could do something and I happen to look her way an she was chewing on the can of dog food. She was soooo hungry! I instantly fell in love with her I went home and told my mom ALL about her. The next few days consisted of my "working" sneaking away to see her in the office cause everyone loved her and telling my mom how much I wanted her.  The day came where she was put if for adoption and instantly grabbed her papers and adopted her! That was 3 years ago! She's the best dog I've ever had, her heart is bigger then any human I know! I couldn't imagine life with out her! It's only been 3 years but it feels like a lifetime! Everytime I look at her I still see that cute baby face I couldn't get enough of!

My husband I and are making the journey from Alaska to Georgia. We are shipping our jeep from AK to Seattle, and are looking for some awesome places to stop and visit or places to eat etc we don't have a set route yet so we are looking for help! Of course I am interested in all the places I am gonna get to take.

Canon 18-55mm review & suggestions!

When I ordered my camera off amazon it did not come with the stock lens inside (18-135mm) I didn't have a problem with this actually I was use to this lens just on a nikon. 

So far I am loving this lens, it's givin me some awesome night shots, really good portraits with soft creamy backgrounds!! I look forward to using this lens on my cross country drive next month.  

If you are looking into buying or trying out a  new/used lens and don't want to fork out the $$$ right away try looking for photographers exchanges groups on Facebook or online, I joined a local group where I have seen a variety of items for low prices! & visit Lens rental online! (Www.lensrental.com) They have really affordable pricing, all you have to do is pay! They send you the lens, camera or what ever it may be and the package to send it back!! How easy is that!

Killing it

INSTA SENSATION 

I've started my photography Instagram account over a year ago an don't go on it as much as I should! But I am noticing an increase of  "armature" photographers walking around with $3,400 cameras not including lens!! All I am trying to say daaaaa fuck did you get that kinda money to spend on your "hobby" it's taken me years to purchase my canon, and I was only able to do that cause !!
1. I'm married huge plus on taxes 
2. I had an extra $100! Taken out. 
3. I worked my ass off all summer including the day & night i got married. 

I was very blessed to receive a nice tax return and with moving to a different state next month I still hunted for a deal so I didn't have to go and spend over $1700

If you are like me and love a good deal amazon is going to be your friend, but don't limit your search just to there. I found QVC was running a good deal on my camera for about $900 for the body and  stock lens 18-135mm (if I am correct).  Shop around and READ reviews. 
 My best friends mom has a photography business, and I was able to pick her brain when it came to what to look for in my next camera to advance my skills . The worst thing you want to do is spend $2000 on a camera keep in full auto. Don't let the camera scare you! Now a days you an find anything and everything online, so get on google or pick up a book. Do some good ole fashion reading. 

I've spent many cold nights outside trying to get the perfect 
settings for shooting stars, it takes time and warm gear but when you see your photos every minute outside was worth it!!!!

First things first, coffee is a must! Maybe breakfast but that normally just turns into lunch.  In my title you saw the word "negatives" when I say this I mean raw undeveloped photos & untouched by Lightroom or any other editing software.  With that said it fits perfectly with " WOMAN CRUSH WEDNESDAY" aka WCW.  Now let's stroll back some time and check out my WCW an how these RAW photos make me laugh every time I see them.

Some awesome photos I took with the Canon 5D mark ii filling in for Flaunt Photography @ the Denali Destroyers Dolls bout in Palmer, Alaska. 

I fell in love with this camera an lens (although I can't remember which telephoto lens it is ) would love nothing more to own a 5D Mark iii but that would cost me more then an arm & leg. Maybe one day when I'm rich :) that note if you have not been to a roller derby bout CHECK IT OUT!!! you won't be wasting your time.

 I thought I would finally start a blog about my photos and experiences when it comes to photography just in time for my husbands and I journey across cross next month. 

I recently upgraded my camera to a canon 60D making the switch from a Nikon was a lot easier then I thought but I am beyond excited about my camera. The other night it was really clear here in anchorage and I finally got tonight out and do some star shooting. It was amazing !!!!!!  I got to see Jupiter and Gemini. I was loving it although it was cold!

 I was just shooting with my 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 it did a wonderful job. I am looking into some wide angel lens from www.lensrental.com they have great prices and loads of stuff to choose from, great site if you are looking to upgrade lens and want to try it out!!!!  Will be posting photos soon. Check out my social network sites!
